Mr. Ashkenazy the prestigious conductor visited the Concert and Conference Center (CCC) when he came to Iceland recently. Mr. Ashkenazy who once was honored as Conductor Laureate of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra was very pleased when he heard that despite of the economic collapse in Iceland the national authorities were still going ahead with the construction. It is the third time Mr. Ashkenazy visits the construction area and he was amazed to see the results on site. He mentioned that he would be grateful to be offered to conduct the Icelandic Symphony’s Orchestra’s debut concert in CCC.

In Mr. Ashkenazy’s trip to Iceland he conducted the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra on two concerts where his son Mr. Vovka Stefán Ashkenazy played the piano.
