27.05.2010 Harpa will be delivered in the spring of 2011
An agreement has been made between ÍAV on one hand and the East Harbour and Portus on the other hand that the delivery date for Harpa will be April 7th 2010. By then it will be possible to move into the building to prepare for the formal opening ceremony that will be announced in late June this year.
Some delays for the production and installation of the glass façade are due to the economic crisis in Iceland and the suspension of work in the period of October 2008 to March 2009 but the parties have now concluded an agreement on how to make up for this delay.
The installation of the Quazy bricks that form the glass façade has been on schedule and glass installation on the north side is will under way. By now there is work ongoing simultaneously on all sides of the glass façade and work is being carried out at all indoor levels. The critical path of the project is now the glass façade and the main concert hall and will by the autumn also be in the lobby areas at the south side of the building.
There are now arround 400 workers on site and their number will increase in the near future.
