Only 34 meters left in the Óshlíð tunnel
Today only 30 meters are left of tunnel excavation in the Óshlíð tunnel. On the Bolungarvík site, some 18 meters were blasted last week, bringing the total length at that section to 2.406 meters and on Hnífsdalur site 40 meters were blasted at the same time, bringing the total length at that section to 2.720. Difficult sediments have been delaying the excavation work at the Bolungarvík site but on November 28th the final blast is scheduled bringing the two sections in one. Today 5.126 meters have been blasted or 99.3% of the total tunnel length.

Reykjavik Concert and Conference Centre
On January 12th 2007 the first concrete was casted in the Concert and Conference Centre. Toward the end of November 2009 the plan is to finish the concrete work and put all the effort towards finishing the interior work. Because of this turning point and along with reaching the milestone of hoisting the last steel beam on the roof of the building the owner of the project Portus an Austurhöfn held a ceremony party last week.

An avalanche barrier built in Bolungarvík
ÍAV started building an avalanche barrier in Bolungarvík in Vestfjord this summer. The project started in July and will last until November when a break will be done due to weather conditions during winter time. In April 2010 the project is scheduled to start again and is estimated to end in October 2010. The avalanche barrier will be 18-22 meters high and 700 meters long. Ten employees are working on the project, mostly locals.
