Only 34 meters left in the Óshlíð tunnel

Today only 30 meters are left of tunnel excavation in the Óshlíð tunnel. On the Bolungarvík site, some 18 meters were blasted last week, bringing the total length at that section to 2.406 meters and on Hnífsdalur site 40 meters were blasted at the same time, bringing the total length at that section to 2.720.

Difficult sediments have been delaying the excavation work at the Bolungarvík site but on November 28th the final blast is scheduled bringing the two sections in one. Today 5.126 meters have been blasted or 99.3% of the total tunnel length.
