A new multi purpose sports hall has been erected in the area of Þór við Hamar in Akureyri and was formally opened on Saturday, 18th January. It has been given the name Boginn, which means The Bow as in bow and arrow.

IPC signed a contract with the Akureyri Town Council regarding the design and construction of the building in October, 2001. The sports hall covers an area of 9,500 square meters.
