We built Harpa
The purpose of this book is to document and preserve the history of the Harpa project. Its aim is also to manifest the excellent workmanship and knowledge of managers, designers and builders. The role of the contractors is often forgotten but without them the design would be like notes on a sheet of paper but without an orchestra to play them and fill the halls with music.
Few buildings in Iceland have been welcomed as heartily as Harpa, both by music lovers and conference guests. In the first year there were more than one million visitors to the house. We who built this house are full of pride and that is echoed in the name we chose for the book:
We Built Harpa.
The book is dedicated to all the thousands who were involved in the construction of Harpa
