Main Road #1 - South Iceland

The first part of the widening of Suðurlandsvegur, part of highway nr. 1 with the construction of new intersections at Vallavegur and Ölfusborgarvegur. The total length of the section is about 2.5 km.

The construction will also include the construction of new side roads that relate to new intersections, on the one hand is Ölfusvegur from Ölfusborgavegi to Hvammsvegur and on the other hand Ásnesvegur from Vallavegi to Ásnes.

Additional to the roadworks is also widening the bridge over Varmá and the underpass east of Varmár for walking and riding horses, as well as changes and replacements to the utility supply systems among other factors necessary to complete the work.
