The building by the Blue lagoon is the first phase of constructions that accommodates health service and tourist service facilities by the lagoon.

The building has two floors and a technical basement. During the design there was an emphasise on the conjunction of modern design and a unique nature and the building is set in the edge of the lava “Illahraun” (Mean lava). From the guest car park area to the main entrance the walk approx. 200 m is in a lava rift. Once through the entrance there is a wall, manmade out of lava that leads through the entrance hall and the restaurant out to a veranda by the Blue lagoon and connects the building to the untouched natural lava wall that surrounds a part of the lagoon used for bathing. From the entrance hall there is an access to the dressing rooms and the bathing facilities, restaurants, conference hall and a tourist shop.

Through a glass wall in the entrance hall and the restaurant area there is a view over the bathing area that is approx. 5.000 m2. The building itself is approx. 2.700 m2.
