Agreement for the construction of phase two of Sjálandsskóli school
Karl Thráinsson, Deputy CEO of Iceland Prime Contractor, and Saevar Thorbjörnsson, general manager of Fasteign hf., signed an agreement for the construction of the second phase of Sjálandsskóli school. IPC built the first phase of the school building in 2004-2005.
The project entails the construction of a 3,000-m2 annex adjacent to the current school building. The annex will be located by the seaside, and the hall linking the two buildings will lie over Vífilsstadarlækur creek. The annex will contain, among other things, a swimming pool, an athletic hall, and a cafeteria.
Groundwork is underway, construction site set-up has commenced, and casting is about to begin. An estimated 40-50 employees will be engaged in the project at the peak of work. The project is scheduled for completion in July 2009.
