Agreement negotiated for purchase of equipment for Concert and Conference Centre
On Thursday 20 December an agreement was signed with the Austrian company Waagner-Biro for the purchase of equipment for the Concert and Conference Centre in Reykjavík’s east harbour area.
Sigurdur Ragnarsson, director of the East Harbour Project, signed the agreement on behalf of IPC, and Walter Weinwurm signed on behalf of Waagner-Biro. Waagner-Biro was chosen for the project after a pre-selection and a tender offer. Included in the agreement are sound shields for the concert hall, banners intended to control sound quality, various control equipment and technological systems, a circular stage, a cinema screen, and piano and stage elevators. The first shipment will arrive in Iceland in April 2009, and the bulk of it will be set up and installed later that year.
Waagner-Biro is a 150-yeqr-old company with headquarters in Vienna, Austria. It has an excellent reputation for providing top-quality equipment for concert halls the world over. Iceland Prime Contractor expects the collaboration with Waagner-Biro to be very successful.
