A new, luxurious 14-storey tower annex to Reykjavík’s Grand Hotel was inaugurated on Friday 26 October. Iceland Prime Contractor wishes to congratulate the owners and staff of the hotel on this milestone and to thank them for a successful collaborative relationship.
Ground was broken on 23 September 2005, and construction began immediately thereafter. The 14-storey building is over 14,000 m2 in size, including a basement, 12 full-size floors, a partial floor, and a floor that divides the building into two wings. The imposing and elegant tower annex contains 209 spacious guest rooms. Also part of the project was the construction of a new main entrance and lobby that are connected to a covered indoor atrium, as well as leading to service areas in the basement and on the first floor.
The older part of the hotel totalled just over 8,000 m2. Thus the new construction brings the overall size to more than 22,000 m2 and 314 guest rooms.
