Enlargement of Furugerdi 1 for Reykjavík Social Housing

A contract has been signed about the enlargement of Furugerdi 1 where Reykjavik Social Housing operate service apartments for the elderly.
Furugerdi 1 was built in 1977 housing 70 apartments on 8 floors. The contract is about building a retracted ninth floor that will house six apartments and bathing facilities as well as the current food hall in the basement will be enlarged.
After a preliminary selection seven companies were invited to take part but five returned a bid. The bid from IPC was most favourable or i.kr. 178.304.690 or 87% of the estimated cost. IPC will soon start the project which shall be finished in the middle of December.
Project manager is Unnar Björn Jónsson and site manager Gudmundur Konradsson.
