Expansion of Skógarland pre-school underway
Construction has begun on the expansion of the pre-school Skógarland in Egilsstadir. The new building will house two departments designed to serve 50 students. At present, nearly 90 students are enrolled in the school.
The building was originally designed as a six-department pre-school, and the current building contains four departments, in addition to support areas. Iceland Prime Contractor built the school and completed the first phase of construction in 2005. The annex is some 190 m2 in size, bringing the final total size of the school to 1071 m2. The project is scheduled for completion on 1 September 2007. The construction work is not expected to have any significant impact on the school’s operations, as plans call for completion of the most extensive work during summer vacation.
