IPC builds the new Gardatorg Square
On 11 September 2008 the new Gardatorg Square project was officially begun with the signing of contractual agreements and groundbreaking for the planned construction work. The new Gardatorg Square, which is the second phase in the build-up of the Gardabaer town centre, is overseen by Iceland Prime Contractor on behalf of the real estate development company Klasi, which is carrying out the development project in collaboration with the municipality of Gardabaer. The Gardatorg Square area will feature retail stores, service organisations, cultural activities, and residential housing. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2010.
Chairman of the Board Stefán Fridfinnsson and Haukur Magnússon, Director of Engineering, signed the agreement on behalf of IPC. Halldór Eyjólfsson, Director of Development, and Managing Director Ingvi Jónasson signed on behalf of Klasi. Ground was broken by the Mayor of Gardabaer, with Klasi’s Managing Director and Chairman of the Board, and a number of municipal representatives, with the enthusiastic assistance of a group of children from the pre-school Kirkjuból, which is located in downtown Gardabaer.
