IPC carries out interior finishing at Borgartún Street 26
IPC and Thyrping have signed a contract to the effect that IPC will carry out the interior finishing of the office and retail space at Borgartún Street 26, which is owned by Thyrping. The project includes all materials, transport, and labour necessary to finish the project in full, as well as the operation of the worksite and all site management.
Iceland Prime Contractor commenced construction on the building in September 2005. The building is in two sections, one five storeys tall and the other eight storeys, in addition to a separate area on the roof, above the elevator shaft, for technical facilities. The main stairwell is in the centre of the building and contains three elevators. Other stairways are located at the west end and on the eastern gable. A portion of the building is insulated from without and clad with various materials, while another section is made of visual concrete and insulated from within. The 12,000 m2 building will be accompanied by 345 parking spaces, 200 of which will be located in a subterranean parking garage.
