IPC has commenced much activity in the construction business in the East of Iceland
On March 10th, IPC commenced construction of a private house in Reyðarfjörður, at Vallargarður 17. This is the first in this eastern part of Iceland by IPC.
Bragason ehf of Fjarðabyggð is handling the earthwork. It is scheduled that the house will be completed in June.
IPC has been allotted land for 151 apartments in so-called Bakkagarður in Reyðarfjörður. In conjunction with Fjarðabyggð (County) IPC has amended arrangements which had been submitted to enable more flexibility in the apartment surroundings. In Bakkagarður there shall be 55 private houses, 44 apartments as either town houses or duplexes and 52 apartments in apartment blocks. The apartment blocks shall not be high buildings but rather two to three storeys with 5 to 16 apartments.
IPC has also been allotted land for 123 apartments in Votahvamm in Egilsstaður. This is in the area between the existing buildings and the Eyvindar river. The complete area covers five housing areas and twelve (stakstæðum) areas. Each area shall have central playgrounds and gardens and garages. As the Eyvindar river runs on the northern side of Votahvamm, the southern bank shall be built up and strengthened and the river shall form an important part of the environment.. Walkways shall be constructed . One playground shall be connected to the allotments by walkways. It is expected that construction will commence mid this year.
In the area there will be ten private houses, 41 apartments as town houses or duplexes and 72 apartments in apartment blocks. The apartment blocks shall be three storeys high with 12 apartments each.
IPC intends to use the local tradesmen wherever expedient and possible.
