IPC presents Penninn ehf. with keys to new offices
On 13 June 2008, Ingthór Ásgeirsson, Director of the Retail Store Division of Penninn, and Gudrídur Sigurdardóttir, Director of Human Resources at Penninn, received the keys to the company’s state-of-the-art 1,500-m2 office facility on the second floor of the new office building in the Glaesibaer shopping centre. Penninn in tends to move its offices to the new building over the next few weeks. Representing IPC were Kristján Arinbjarnar, Director of the Construction Division; project manager Jón Örn Jakobsson; office manager Gudmundur Pálsson; and construction manager Össur Fridgeirsson. Iceland Prime Contractor owns and leases out the property.
Penninn ehf. owns and operates the Eymundsson and Penninn retail stores, as well as the retail store Saltfélagid. The company also operates Te og Kaffi cafés. In addition, Penninn owns a 50% share in Habitat Iceland; a majority stake in the furniture company Coppa in Latvia; a majority share in GH ljós in Gardabaer; the operational supply chain Officeday, which operates in Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania; the coffee manufacturer Melna Kafija; and a majority holding in the café chain Insomnia, which operates in Ireland.
Construction of the new office building began in March 2006. The eight-storey building features a two-storey basement and is some 10,000 m2 in size. Hreyfing and Blue Lagoon, which commenced operations in the building at the beginning of 2008, occupy the three bottom floors (the two-storey basement and the first floor). Sjónlag will begin operations on the fifth floor in the autumn or early winter, and physicians’ offices will open on the third and fourth floors during the winter.
