IPC renews electrical wiring systems at Keflavík Airport
On 6 June, Sudurnes Regional Heating broke the ground for the renovation of the Keflavík Airport electrical wiring systems. The project will be in the hands of Iceland Prime Contractor, which will modify the electrical wiring in the area so that it complies with Icelandic legislation no later than 1 October 2010.
The first phase of the project involves the renovation of the electrical distribution system in the industrial part of the area. A portion of the residential section will also be included in Phase 1. The first phase will be complete in September. Disconnection of the older distribution system for the industrial part of the area is scheduled to take place on 14 November 2008.
The Company will begin work on other parts of the worksite immediately thereafter and will continue until the project is complete. Preparatory work has been underway for several months. The engineering firm VJI Consulting is handling the design of the new electrical distribution system in collaboration with Sudurnes Regional Heating and the Keflavík Airport Development Corporation (KADECO).
