Landsnet and IAV sign contract for construction of substation in Helguvík
Landsnet signed an agreement with IAV for the construction of a new substation Landsnet Helguvík which has been named Stakkur. The contract amount is aprox 341 million IKR and is based on that the project will be completed by the end of 2015.
The new substation is next to silica plant United Silicon (USi) by Stakksbraut and designed with possible expansion in mind. Three 132 kV switches will be in the substation and two transformers, one associated with silica plant and the other owned by HS energy. The work includes earthworks and construction of non-insulated structural steel building for the switch equipment, construction of concrete switch space with a structural steel roof, construction isolated control building. The buildings will be grouped on one floor, a total of 750m2 of floor area.
Preparation of the substation Stakk began by Landsnet in autumn 2014 following the agreement on the electricity transfer to silica plant USi in Helguvik. The contract states that the connection will be ready by February 1, 2016 as well as the new substation Stakk, the project also includes the installation of a new switch in the substation at Fitjar and a 9 km long 132 kV underground cable between Fitja and Helguvík. An agreement was concluded for the purchase of land line and transformer in 2014. An agreement was reached with the German company Nexans of underground cable purchase and the installation of cable finished in the summer of 2015.
