Machine shop under construction in Reydarfjördur
Iceland Prime Contractor recently began constructing a steel-framed building of over 4,000 square metres at Hraun 5 in Reydarfjördur.
The building will contain a pot workshop, an electrical workshop, a machine shop, a lathe workshop, a store, and a dining room. It will also contain 430 square metres of office space on the second floor. The structure of the building will be made of steel, with locked sandwich units in the roof and sandwich units in the walls. The floors and plinth will be of cast concrete. Structural, wiring, and architectural design are in the hands of the engineering firm VGK-Hönnun, which is also carrying out the divisional planning for the lot. Delivery of the machine shop in the building is scheduled for 1 March 2008, and completion of the rest of the projected is expected on 15 July 2008. The customer is the machine shop Vélsmidja Hjalta Einarssonar in Hafnarfjördur, which will use the new facility for projects related to a service agreement with Alcoa in Reydarfjördur.
