Project progress at the avalanche barriers in Bolungarvik.
The project consists of 4 employees which is the number that has been at the project since the reduction of personal in middle of December. At this moment the work manly consists of cutting the cones
which are above the avalanche barriers, 20.000 m3 of soil has been moved from there for the past few weeks.
Also there has been work done on the walkway which leads up to the main avalanche barrier, 700 m long.
The soil that has been blasted and removed has largely been unfit for usage in filling in the barriers, where 20m high rock stood and has now been removed and grass seed will be spread.
It is estimated that all work at the project will come to an stop soon and won´t be started again until next spring. The whether in January has been good for the progress of the project, relatively not that much snow compering to the time of the year.
Next summer the main focus will be on finishing the barriers, installing security fences along the barriers, walkways build, viewing platforms build and natural stones installed.
Also the installation of the barrier frames and the soil filling work on the barriers that haven´t been finished, but 95% of that work has already been done. It is estimated that approx. 10 employees will be working on the project next summer and the conclusion of the project will be in August 2012.
